Steps to make Karela podi:
  1. Wash and cut the karela in round thin pieces. Deep fry the pieces in oil and keep aside.
  2. In the same oil add the onions, green chillies,tamarind and fry till they turn golden brown and crisp.
  3. In a pan roast the peanuts, sesame seeds, dessicated coconut,roasted chana dal separately and allow them to cool and grind into powder.
  4. Then add the fried onions, chillies,tamarind, fried karela,garlic pods,salt, turmeric, red chilli powder into it and grind again coarsely. Fine powder can also be made according to taste but coarsely ground podi is preferred more.
  5. For tempering the podi heat oil in a kadai or pan and add mustard seeds,urad dal,cumin seeds. When they turn little brown in colour add the podi and mix well.

Cut the karela into round thin. Kakarakaya, bitter gourd, karela, podi, powder, diabetic. Dessicated coconut powder - ½ cup. Curry leaves (According to your taste) Salt to taste. Cut the Karela into round shape.
