The ingredients needed to make Chocolate barfi:
- Prepare 300 g milk powder
- Take 200 g milk chocolate
- Prepare 1 cup sugar
- Get 3/4 cup water
- Get 1 teaspoon cardamon powder
- Prepare 1/2 cup warm milk
- Make ready 1 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)
- Prepare A few strands of saffron
Khoya or mawa are the milk solids got by condensing the milk till it thickens and reaches a solid consistency. So this recipe for choccy barfi or burfee is a bit of a hybrid - Indian fudge with the warming chocolate flavour and much less sugar. Definitely one for the children this and it will get them cooking, I promise! Chocolate burfi or chocolate fudge is a super yum mithai.
Steps to make Chocolate barfi:
- Add water to the sugar to the boil for around 10mins to make the syrup wait until it’s sticky then add milk powder milk and ghee and keep stirring.
- Then after it’s all mixed add the cardamon powder and saffron and stir this all in. Mix milk with saffron to give a light yellow colour.
- Then grease a tray and spread the dough onto it then place in the fridge overnight.
- The next day melt the chocolate and pour over the barfi and place in the fridge again for 6 hours.
- Then once it’s set cut into pieces and enjoy 😊
It is nut free and a good alternative to milk chocolate. You can make it for the party and yet it looks store bought. Serve it in your party with panache. I love the fact that it doesn't lose shape or drips of sugar syrup like other sweets. An easy to make sweet for Diwali.
