  1. Prepare 350 gr chicken thigh/chicken wing
  2. Take 1 baby lettuce
  3. Make ready sesame seeds
  4. Prepare deep fried oil
  5. Take 250 gr plain flour
  6. Make ready 1/2 tbsp salt
  7. Make ready 1 tsp pepper
  8. Make ready Marinade:
  9. Prepare 1 tbsp fish sauce
  10. Make ready 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  11. Prepare 3 cloves garlic chopped finely

  13. Get 2 tbsp gochujang paste
  14. Take 2 tbsp honey
  15. Take 2 tbsp soy sauce
  16. Make ready 2 tbsp white vinegar

Yangneyom chicken (양념치킨) is a crispy and tender Korean fried chicken smothered in a sticky, spicy red sauce. It literally translates to seasoned chicken, and along with dakgangjeong, it's one of many variations of spicy chicken dishes that are made popular by fast food chains in Korea. This dish is very similar to Chinese sesame chicken but this dish has a distinct spicy flavour from Korean chilli pepper paste. Lightly battered chicken cooked in spicy sauce and topped with sesame seeds and spring onions.

Steps to make Korean Spicy Chicken:
  1. Marinate the chicken with fish sauce, oyster sauce, and garlic for at least 30 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the flour mixture by adding salt and pepper to the flour.
  2. In the hot pan, cook the sauce by adding gochujang paste and add a little bit oil, fry it for a sec and add honey. Turn the heat to low and add soy sauce and white vinegar. Mix it up and you can add some water if the sauce is too thick. Set aside.
  3. Back to the chicken, cover the chicken with the flour mixture and fry it in hot deep fried oil, cook it for about 5 minutes and rest it for 2 minutes and fry again for 2 minutes (it will make the chicken crispy but juicy in the inside)
  4. Add the chicken to the sauce immediately and cook it with medium low heat to make the sauce absorb to the chicken.
  5. Pour sesame seed on top of the chicken and enjoy it with fresh lettuce.

Cut chicken into medium bite size pieces. These spicy Korean chicken thighs have a slightly barbecue like feel. Because the sauce has a sticky sweetness and it coats the chicken evenly. And when you make this in a cast iron pan, the skin of the chicken thighs gets crispy while the chicken stays nice and juicy. Essentially, dak galbi / dakgalbi (닭갈비) is spicy chicken stir fried in a large pan, which is often a cast iron pan.
