- Take Marinate
- Get 1 cup light soy sauce
- Prepare 1 tbs dark soy sauce

- Get 1 tsp salt
- Get 2 tbs sugar
- Get 1 tbs five spice powder

- Combine all marinate items and mix well. Stir till sugar, honey, and all power items have dissolved.

- Preheat oven to 220 deg C. Roast chicken for 40mins at 180 deg C. (Note: roasting time depends on the size of the chicken and your oven heat distribution, adjust accordingly)
Combine one bunch of chopped spring onions, salt, sugar, ginger and spices in a bowl and put inside the chicken cavity. Use a wooden toothpick to seal the chicken back up. Turn the chicken over in marinade occasionally. Dust ½ teaspoon of five spice inside the cavity of the chicken, then combine all the marinating ingredients into a ziplock or a large bowl with the chicken. Place the carrots, ginger root, and onions in the bottom of the crock pot.
