The ingredients needed to make Bean pate:
  1. Get 400 g mixed beans (tinned is easiest)
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp oil
  3. Prepare 1 lemon (or bottled lemon juice)
  4. Make ready 2 tsp garlic puree
  5. Make ready Small bunch fresh coriander (optional)
  6. Take 2-3 spring onions
  7. Take 1/2 tsp pureed ginger (optional)
  8. Prepare Salt and pepper to season

A vegetarian and vegan pâté that anyone can enjoy as a starter. Serve with rolls and butter, or warm slices of wholemeal toast. Preparation: Soak overnight and cook the beans until soft. Drain the beans and reserve a small amount of the cooking water.

Steps to make Bean pate:
  1. Pit drained beans into a bowl and mash with fork.
  2. Add juice from lemon, garlic and ginger, and a little oil and mix to combine.
  3. If using coriander, chop roughly and add to mixture with salt and pepper to season and mix.
  4. Put into ramekins and chill in fridge until ready to serve. Best served with fresh warm bread, flatbread or crackers.

Puree them until smooth in the food processor with a bit of the cooking water, half a cup of walnuts (some people slightly toast them beforehand), garlic, salt, black and red pepper. Stir cannellini beans and tomato paste into the shallot and spice mixture. A quick healthy pate to serve as a starter or light lunch. Put all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. Add water until a spreading consistency and add salt and pepper to taste.
