- Make ready 1/2 cup Water
- Make ready Dipping Sauce
- Prepare Ponzu (see recipe)
- Prepare Rā-yu (Chilli Oil)
On the other day, I made leftover Abura-age (Fried Thin Tofu) into Gyoza. The texture is much better than Firm Tofu-based Gyoza, and Abura-age (Fried Thin Tofu) are widely available from many stores. Fried gyoza (Shutterstock) To make gyoza, you'll need six things at hand: the filling, the wrappers, a small bowl of water, a baking sheet lined with baking parchment or dusted with cornflour (cornstarch), a small spoon and a slightly damp dish towel or paper towel. - Place a heaped teaspoonful filling (OR as much as you can wrap) onto a Gyoza Wrapper, moisten the edge of the wrapper with water, fold the edge 5-6 times and close. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Heat oil in a frying pan (non-stick recommended) over medium high heat, and arrange Gyoza in the pan.
- Add 1/2 cup Water and reduce heat. Cover with a lid and allow Gyoza to steam until the Water is gone. Keep cooking until the bottom of Gyoza turned golden brown.
- Serve with Ponzu with Rā-yu (Chilli Oil).
This is the Soba Noodle version of it and it is quite popular in Japan. Soba Noodles are seasoned with Noodle Dipping Sauce. It is very easy to prepare. Gyoza (餃子) is the name for Japanese pan-fried dumplings. They are originally from China but evolved to suit Japanese taste.
